The report, published by 智能纪元AGI and carried by Sina, says a small group of users will be selected for the Harness test. It places the public V4 release roughly one to two weeks after that test ends. ChainThink separately summarized the same screenshot-driven report and described an NDA-based beta for selected participants.
Those two stories do not amount to independent confirmation. Both rely on circulating screenshots and unnamed reporting rather than a dated DeepSeek announcement. The August 10–20 window should therefore be treated as a reported target, not a firm launch date.
The release window has moved twice
The previous timetable came from DeepSeek's late-June communication to API developers. The Paper reported on June 29 that DeepSeek planned to release V4 GA in mid-July, with additional product improvements and a new peak-and-off-peak API pricing schedule.
Mid-July passed without a public GA release note. A later round of reporting moved the target toward the end of July. The latest August estimate is the first reported window tied to a concrete product step: closed testing for the in-house Harness that is expected to launch around the same time as the model.
That sequence matters more than the exact day. It suggests DeepSeek is treating the model and its coding environment as a coordinated release rather than shipping the checkpoint first and the developer tool later. The Harness would manage the surrounding workflow—files, tools, terminal actions, context, and task feedback—while V4 supplies the model capability.
DeepSeek has not confirmed the August date
DeepSeek's official API changelog still stops at the April 24 V4 Preview entry. The company's transparency center also lists April 24 as the current V4 release date, and there is no public GA entry, Harness product page, installer, repository, or migration notice.
The official V4 page explicitly tells readers to rely on DeepSeek's own accounts for company news. Until one of those surfaces publishes the GA schedule, neither the August window nor a synchronized Harness launch should be described as official.
The current API contract has not changed because of this report. Developers can still use deepseek-v4-pro and deepseek-v4-flash through the documented OpenAI-compatible and Anthropic-compatible interfaces. The reported delay does not introduce a new model ID or require an API configuration change.
What to watch next
The strongest near-term evidence would be a first-party Harness beta notice, followed by a DeepSeek changelog entry that changes V4 from Preview to GA. A real launch should also clarify whether the August release changes model weights, API routing, pricing, benchmark results, or only the production label and surrounding coding workflow.
For now, the clearest update is narrow: DeepSeek V4 GA appears to have missed its July target, and current reporting places the next possible launch window in mid-August. The August 10–20 range is credible enough to track, but not confirmed enough to promise.
